The topic for my essay 1 is the less participation of women in social leadership in Japan, as opposed to other countries.
The reason I chose this topic is because I’m interested in politics and I feel there is still much inequality of sexes in Japan, especially in the political field. There is much greater participation of men in the Diet and there have never been any women presidents in Japan. However, as opposed to Japan, there are many countries where women have made a success as social leaders. For example, in Norway about 40 percent of the members of the Diet is occupied with women and in Rwanda almost 50 percent is occupied with women. These countries adopt several systems that make it easy for women to participate in politics. Then, why not in Japan?
Therefore, I would like to write about the gender problems in politics. My thesis statement for this essay is that politics in Japan has a flaw in equality of sexes and the government should make it easy for women to participate more in social leadership.

The politic system in Japan should be changed in order to make it easier for women to participate more in social leadership and address the flaw in equality of the sexes in government.
At a glance this thesis might look like it's suggesting two distinct purposes for making the change, but in fact 1) making it easier for women to participate in politics and 2) addressing the inequality of participation of the sexes in government are two sides of the same coin.
This thesis works.
